Curtis is a native of Yarrawonga, Victoria, Australia she is the daughter of Carmencita Ojales a Filipina from Bolinao Pangasinan and James Ernest Curtis-Smith an Australian lawyer. Her father was married in 1982. married Ojales. Jasmine her younger sister also performs as an actress. Clare is one of their cousins at the death of their father. Clare passed away at 4 months in 2007 from an illness of the heart.
